  • Parish Waste Reduction Program strategic plans at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), Grove City, OH

    This PDF copy of a powerpoint presentation contains the plans generated by the Creation Care Council of OLPH to launch a waste reduction program that has since become quite successful. Various levels of detail are contained in the slides, within a congregational creation care team meeting format; the planning process and details here can be helpful to similar efforts in other places. Note that the grant that this presentation mentions hoping to apply for was successfully gained (for $2000) to provide signage and other infrastructure to greatly empower this project.

    "The 2023 Laudato Si’ and the U.S. Catholic Church (June 14-July 27, 2023) national conference, is part of a biennial conference series  co-sponsored by Creighton University and Catholic Climate Covenant to equip and inspire Catholics to more deeply integrate Laudato Si’ and its creation care teachings into the U.S. Church. The purpose of this year's conference is to encourage a greater understanding of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform’s seven goals – Response to the Cry of the Poor, Ecological Economics, Adoption of Sustainable Lifestyle, Ecological Education, Ecological Spirituality, Community Resilience and Empowerment, and Response to the Cry of the Earth – and encourage Catholic individuals and groups to enroll in the Platform, providing them with a clearer path for accomplishing each of the goals through speaker presentations."

Lyla June is an Indigenous musician, scholar and community organizer of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages. Her dynamic, multi-genre presentation style has engaged audiences across the globe towards personal, collective and ecological healing. She blends studies in Human Ecology at Stanford, graduate work in Indigenous Pedagogy, and the traditional worldview she grew up with to inform her music, perspectives and solutions. Her current doctoral research focuses on Indigenous food systems revitalization. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community."

  • Presentation of the Apostolic Exhortation: "Laudate Deum"

    This video contains discussion of Pope Francis' newly released Laudate Deum, as well as comments on how it connects with Laudato Si' and applies to future action. Environmental and religious activists, experts, and scholars speak on the issue as it relates to their field. The speakers explain possible ways to incorporate the information discussed in Laudate Deum and other knowledge surrounding climate change can be incorporated and developed into courses of action to address the climate crisis.

    The Faith and Sustainability podcast is a project created by the Archdiocese of Atlanta as part of their Laudato Si Initiative. Host Leonard Robinson is joined every week by influential members of different faith communities and environmental experts, where they discuss a wide range of topics like environmental justice, how to recycle, and climate change. The Faith and Sustainability podcast explores how faith and sustainability connect, and finding out how to better care for our planet.

  • The world is our host: A call to urgent action for climate justice

    Anglican Bishops from around the world discuss various environmental complications resulting from climate change. They provide a list of initiatives of commitment that they have pledged as a church, some of which include strengthening collaboration among partners, developing and distributing educational resources and liturgical materials, and strengthening of ethical investment guidelines. They also list actions that individuals can take to support their mission.

    "In the mental health community, there’s a new term: “Eco-Anxiety.”

    Our guest in this episode, Jay Michaelson, has been thinking hard about climate change for many, many years. Michaelson is a meditation teacher, rabbi, lawyer, activist, and journalist. And he is also a core teacher in the Ten Percent Happier app. He’s covered climate change extensively, and has taught environmental ethics at Boston University Law School and Chicago Theological Seminary. He has also been a leading environmental activist in religious communities.

    In this conversation, we talk about what Jay thinks some meditation teachers get wrong about climate change, what he calls the “delusion” that individual habit change can make an impact, how we can use meditation to engage more effectively in the kind of politics he says we need to move the needle on a systemic level, and how to use meditation and deep breathing to handle eco-anxiety."
