Texas Impact and Texas Interfaith Center for Public Policy
Texas Impact exists to put faith into action. They equip faith leaders and their congregations with the information, opportunities, and outreach tools to educate their communities and engage with lawmakers on pressing public policy issues. They are an interfaith group that works together on issues such as racial discrimination, climate change, economic justice, and human rights that impact the most vulnerable people in our communities. The Interfaith Center is Texas Impact’s 501(c)(3) research and education partner. The Interfaith Center’s board includes thought leaders; government affairs professionals; public servants; and communications experts. They provide the political insight and guidance that help Texas Impact offer clear, relevant, information that faith communities need to be effective advocates. -
Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility
The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility is an organization that advocates for better labor laws, financial services, sustainable development, and accessible health care. It is their mission to incorporate social values into corporate actions. Founded in 1971, the ICCR has been an integral part of advocating for resilient and sustainable corporations, but has been met with pushback from industries that do not want to follow regulation and social values. Profile: Tom Denbow
Tom Denbow is a scientist who reflects on his relationship to religion and how it is interconnected with his work on Biohabitat's blog. From the interview; "Both BIOLOGOS and the Presbyterian Association on Science, Technology, and the Christian Faith bring a Christian perspective, but I feel strongly that other religions, such as Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism, can carry on a dialogue that allows each of us to respect our traditions but also our shared notion of stewardship of the earth and all of nature." -
Great Lakes Water Walk
The Great Lakes Water Walk was an event held in September 2017 that invited people to walk with Indigenous elders along the Toronto Great Lakes waterfront. The event promoted caring for the environment in a spiritual light and honoring the Earth. The ceremony improves people's relationship with the water and honors the Indigenous tradition of water walking. -
Faith and the Common Good
Faith and the Common Good is an interfaith network that has the mission to protect the environment through community service. They host a variety of programs and events for local communities to get involved in, such as "Greening Sacred Spaces". On their website, they have information for "greening" your church and sustaining a small carbon footprint. They are also involved with the annual "Great Lakes Water Walk". They work with over 800 faith communities from 20 different spiritual backgrounds based in Canada. -
Earth Day 2020 Climate Prayer- Ben Bowler
Ben Bowler, Executive Director at Unity Earth, appears on the Parliament of the World's Religions Youtube channel to offer a message for Earth Day's celebration. He prays for unity of the human family and for us to gain a new appreciation for our planet. He hopes the 50th Anniversary will raise awareness for environmental concern and he encourages people to take on environmental responsibility, and to become stewards of our beloved Earth. -
Interfaith Response to COVID-19
The United Nations Environment Programme compiled a list of Interfaith responses to the outbreak of COVID-19, including statements from the Berkley Center, Oxford, and the World Evangelical Alliance. The UN recognizes faith organizations as leaders in navigating the impacts of COVID-19 and made this list to recognize these emerging responses. -
Honoring Tradition Keepers and Change Agents as Earth Day Turns 50
As Earth Day turns 50 this year, The Faith for Earth Initiative will be hosting a workshop in collaboration with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. The conversation will be about faith communities and their role in combating the environmental crisis while maintaining religious traditions. This event will be held over the communication program Zoom. -
Learning Exchange Workshop of Faith for Earth Initiative
The Faith for Earth Initiative held a learning exchange workshop to open a conversation between 43 representatives from faith based organizations, governments, and the United Nations on the topic of the environment and faith. The three day workshop had the goal of giving leaders the resources to turn goals into environmental actions through a series of programs designed around youth and women, growing trees, and governance and policy. On the last day of the project, 5 trees were planted to symbolize the 5 continents involved coming together. -
Coronavirus, Faith Leaders, and Sustainable Development
An event organized by the United Nations Environment Progamme and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency led a digital conference to discuss innovation to combat the environmental crisis in light of the COVID-19. The Faith for Earth Initiative calls for interfaith collaboration to combat environment problems. In the midst of a global crisis, the UN encourages this time to be used for innovation and educational progression. This quote from Iyad Abumoghi summarizes the mission: “'The coronavirus pandemic is focusing hearts and minds, says the director of Faith for Earth, Iyad Abumoghli. “Faith for Earth is mobilizing youth, the leaders of faith-based organizations, as well as scientists and theologians to work together for innovative change to speed up sustainable development.'” -
Pennsylvania order asks Supreme Court to uphold its Religious Rights
The Adorers of the Blood of Christ have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to decide whether their religious freedom rights were violated by the construction and pending use of a natural gas pipeline through its land. The petition asks the Supreme Court to determine how extensively the government must respect claims under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and whether the construction violates their religious freedoms under the RFRA. -

A campaign by Religions for Peace, worldwide religious leaders call on heads of state to respond urgently to the threats of climate change, commit to 100% renewable energy by 2050, and build a more flourishing, inclusive, and balanced world. Leaders of the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Indigenous, Islamic, Jain, Jewish, Shinto, Sikh, Taoist, and Zoroastrian faiths pledge to do their part by embracing the moral responsibility to care for our world.
